The Virgin Islands are an eclectic Caribbean playground loosely grouped around protected Sir Francis Drake Channel, except for St. Croix which lies by itself to the southeast. It is easy to daytrip between the islands by way of ferry and airplane service. You are guaranteed water and air temperatures in the 80s no matter where you go, not to mention the colorful mosaic of deep blue, aquamarine, soft white and emerald green that surrounds you from the deck of a yacht or beckons from a palm-fringed beach. What differs from one island to the next are the people, the activities, the accommodations and the exciting possibilities for dining out. The USVI include St. Croix,
St. John and
St. Thomas; the BVI include Tortola and Virgin Gorda. They share a common currency the US dollar. And they share a noteworthy British trait driving on the left. Beyond that they are richly varied.
