Peru Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Multisport Tour

The towering, snow-capped peaks and deep river valleys of the Andes provide some of the most spectacular scenery found on earth. From Cusco to the Sacred Valley, visit some of Peru's most fascinating attractions. Experience a vibrant culture, shop in open markets, bike through local villages, raft exhilarating whitewater and hike the fabulous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Day 1: Cusco We begin with a walking tour of Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire, exploring its most important sites, cathedrals and busy markets. Days 2-3: Pisac-Sacred Valley-Ollantaytambo We explore the ruins at Pisac at 10,000 feet, visit the renowned handicrafts market and cycle gently downhill along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. The next day we raft the river's Class II-III rapids and continue with a hike to the Fortress of Ollantaytambo for a guided tour through its ancient stone streets. Days 4-7: Inca Trail-Machu Picchu The Inca Trail begins with a relatively easy section to Llactapata ruins. After crossing the highest point on the trail at nearly 14,000 feet the next day, we head down to the Rio Pacamayo Valley. We climb steeply to the ruins of Runcuracay and Sayacmarca on the third day of our trek and camp that night with a stunning view of soaring Sancantay Peak and the Urubamba River far below. From Phuyupatamarca, we descend to Winay Wayna and get our first views of Machu Picchu through the "Gate of the Sun." After exploring the citadel, relax in the comforts of our luxurious lodge. Days 8-9: Machu Picchu-Cusco Sunrise at Macchu Picchu is a special treat. After a morning of further exploration at the site, we take the train back to Cusco for a special farewell dinner and catch flights home the following day.
